Installing one-piece axle shafts in an AMC 20 rear axle will not allow you to install locking hubs because the axle will still be a semi-floater axle. I flat tow mine behind my M/H and have the manual hubs. I would put the manual hubs on and tow till your hearts content. You can sometimes find baseplates for them on craigslist.
